With the virus fast spreading and the minute to minute update on all news channels and mediums, what is definitely not serving us, is the accompanying concern and worry.  While it is good to be aware and know what precautions to take, it is equally important not to get hassled or unnecessarily anxious. For the sake of immunity and being of any social help, it is absolutely essential we practice hope and just like social distancing; also apply distancing from excessive exposure to news. To keep spirits going of family and surrounding environment, we have to stay strong ourselves, mentally and physically.

With anxiety comes erratic moods, eating habits and sleep quality; all of it detrimental to our well being. You do not want to make yourself susceptible to an eventuality by falling trap to its nagging fear even before anything. Instead once you know the reality, do the needful and rest hold yourself together. Every time you think you are getting anxious, replace the feeling with a positive one. You could do that by praying and meditating and building faith. Therapists say if we can think of worst case scenario, we can also put our mind on thinking of the best case scenario. Uncertainty doesn’t necessarily mean the worst outcome, though the human mind is inclined to think that way. Make a conscious effort to pull out of the negative spiral and put your energies in the right direction.

Meanwhile don’t let this period disrupt routine or all that you were working on in your life. Find creative ways to stay occupied, plan an even better come back and spend ways engaging your mind among close ones; either making a new dish, playing board games or learning a new work out sequence owing to free online lessons being offered at this time. You could also get online and play video games or find partners to play card games if by yourself. Let this time spent apart from working, be spent in rediscovering pleasures and connecting with yourself. Maybe even spring clean or redo your home, that would also help you as cleaning has been found to have a positive effect on the mind by helping us gain a sense of control over our environment while being absorbed in it.
